Another interesting method to display
stereoscopic images is to use the Pulfrich effect.   It was found that if
an object or an image is continually spinning or if the camera is moving
to the left or right, a 3D effect can be achieved by covering one eye with
a dark filter and leaving the other eye free.   Some portions of an episode
of "3rd Rock from the Sun" on NBC were aired using the Pulfrich
effect in May of 1997.   The result was very effective.   Copies of the tape

  An example of the Pulfrich
effect is shown below. To view this, find a pair of sun glasses or the NBC glasses, and hold
them over your right eye (leave your left eye uncovered).
